I'm trying to install arb, a phylogeny program, on my intel dual core iMac
running Mac OSX 10.5.2 (Leopard). I am a unix/fink beginner and am having
trouble.
I think I got FINK downloaded correctly, and was following Mike
Dyall-Smiths's directions (
http://www.microbiol.unimelb.edu.au/people/dyallsmith/resources/ARB/index.html)
to install arb, but when I tried to "fire up" arb, it gave me the following
error:

Before reporting any errors, please run "fink selfupdate" and
try again. If you continue to have issues, please check to see if the
FAQ on fink's website solves the problem. If not, ask on the fink-users
or fink-beginners mailing lists, with a carbon copy to the maintainer:

Note that this is preferable to emailing the maintainer directly, since
most fink package maintainers do not have access to all possible
hardware and software configurations.
The "fink selfupdate" command doesn't fix anything. Sorry, but this is the
first time I've ever used unix and I really don't know what I'm doing, and
I've been struggling with it for a few days now. Can anyone help me out?
