Assuming you're on 10.5, then no, there is not. 

The maintainer for our system-tetex placeholder package got tired of the 
upstream distributions (like gwTeX) randomly moving files around and 
therefore making the placeholder break--it's more than just being able 
to find the "tex" executable--which caused problems for users.   His 
decision was therefore just to have packages install a Fink TeX 
distribution (tetex or ptex).

I'm trying to make a push to remove such a dependency from packages 
which don't need TeX to build and can be configured use a third-party 
TeX distribution at runtime.  It puts more responsibility on the user, 
but since it appears that the current TeX distributions for OS X aren't 
going to be as easy for us to package, this may be a reasonable workaround.
