I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but what happens if you open a new terminal window and try 'fink install qt3' ? I know everything is supposed to be consistent, but sometimes in a huge install list weird things happen. Your error doesn't look like one common to recent x11 problems, so I'm fishing. For the record, what version of OS X are you using? And have you installed any of the xquartz updates from macosforge? The qt3 maintainer is unlikely to be able to respond this weekend. He certainly knows the most about things qt and what might go wrong with qmake.
