The first thing to do in this situation, before even looking for the 
reason of the error, is simply to run "fink update-all" again.

There are certainly quite a few packages that have been built and 
installed since you issued the first update-all command, and therefore 
the situation of your Fink is not the same as before.

If the problem persists, try to install packages individually, like 
"fink install lua", and then at last look at what the error message is 
really trying to tell you (there must have been something before 
"Failed: can't batch-install...")
