You reported the same flavor of error a month ago, but we never saw a
followup to my last question about the permissions of your /sw directory
(which may not matter, now that I look at it again).

A couple of points stand out from your output above:  you shouldn't need
to run fink as root, as it has the capability to acquire those
privileges, nor should you need to specify the full path to fink.
