Dear Fink Beginners,

I have had a number of installation failures all with a similar
outcome which is that a Directory does not exist. Two examples
follow:-

On running Selfupdate-rsync from the FinkCommander it fails with the
failure entry appearing thus at the end of the install dialog:-

Removing runtime build-lock...
Removing build-lock package...
/sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait -r fink-buildlock-cctools-extra-590.18-1
(Reading database ... 4533 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing fink-buildlock-cctools-extra-590.18-1 ...
Failed: directory y/cctools-extra-590.18-1/cctools-590.18 doesn't
exist, check the package description

On trying to install wmmoonclock-1.27-1 the same thing happened, viz:-

Failed: directory y/wmmoonclock-1.27-1/wmMoonClock-1.27/Src doesn't
exist, check the package description

I note that there two y Folders, one in my Home Folder and the other
one is located on my HD. There is nothing in the y Folder in my Home
Folder. In the y Folder on my Hard Disc one Folder appears which is
xdg.base-0.6-2 and in this there is a Document listed as varfile.

I am running OS X 10.3.9 Panther in conjunction with fink-0.28.5-11

Can anyone kindly tell me what I am doing wrong?

Kind regards,

David
