You are linking to a non-fink gmp library, and I expect that that is
what is causing your problem. Step 1 should be to rename /usr/local and
then try building gcc44 again.
Or, if you'd prefer, there is an unofficial binary package repository
that has gcc44 already, as per
http://finkers.wordpress.com/2009/06/01/fink-and-binary-distributions/
.
The "sage" repository has gcc44.
