Your problem isn't "fink", it's "bzip2".

That's supposed to be the case. Fink is intended to produce
deterministic builds, including failure modes.
Right above it, it is said I should read the file

That should probably be in the build directory:
/sw/src/fink.build/bzip2-1.0.5-2/bzip2-1.0.5
but it may not be useful--that's from the upstream developers rather
than from us.

And you're on what OS version and architecture? And using what Xcode
Tools version?
It looks like you have either an incomplete Xcode installation, or one
that is wrong for your platform. On 10.5, I have
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.10.5.dylib
which was provided by the DeveloperSDK package. I don't have that on
10.4, and it looks like you're using the 10.4 compiler, judging by the
"darwin8" references.
