What OS version are you on?  If you're on 10.6 the issue is that the
maintainer hasn't updated the package to use a gcc4N version which
actually exists on 10.6 as of yet (gcc44).

The 10.6/unstable tree is still a bit unstable.

I'd recommend looking for a general tutorial.  Installation via Fink
doesn't really affect how a package runs in most cases.
