Don't believe everything that upstream sites say.  We don't have any
official binaries for 10.6.  There is an unofficial site which has fink
binary package for fftw3, however.

That being said, you can't _just_ install fftw(3) using Fink.  You have
to install the Fink distribution tools, and all of the dependencies of
fftw as well.

If you decide you want to use Fink to install it, we can step you
through how to do so.
