I was assuming that if it was safe to do so, fink could as well have done
it automatically. I have dark memories of such attempts ending up with me
spending days on fixing what got messed up thereby.

Thanks to this assistance, I have been able to update all packages for now.

However, I wonder, which is the recommended way to getting hold of such
information, so one could base decisions (without necessarily bothering
this list) on something more substantial than "fink suggests it -
let's give it a try"?
