Since you're not using Fink to build the package, the build procedure
may not be looking in the right place. There are some useful
environment settings in the FAQ:
http://www.finkproject.org/faq/usage-general.php?phpLang=en#compile-myself
Also, you may need to specify the locations of Fink libraries explicitly
in the arguments to the configure script. "./configure --help" will
indicate the legal options to specify.
