I understand. Indeed, (as I see by now)
$ fink list jadetex
still lists it as an installed virtual package ('p' marked).

Thank you very much for this pointer. fink update-all succeeded smoothly
after that single
$ sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite libkpathsea4=3.5.7-1
command. I apologize for not finding that solution on my own.
