The first guy who had the problem then did not follow up on it. The 
second one wrote to me privately, but apparently not to the list, on

I don't know if there were real files missing or if it was, for example, 
just a question of missing symlinks. On this subject:
What do you get from

ls -lad /usr/include/X11 /usr/X11R6

I get

costabel% ls -lad /usr/include/X11 /usr/X11R6
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel   3 Mar 30 23:59 /usr/X11R6 -> X11
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  18 Mar 30 23:59 /usr/include/X11 -> 
../X11/include/X11
