Disclaimer:  I am a long-time fink user, not maintainer.

That said, fink NEVER intentionally links against /usr/local, and if it does so 
by accident, it usually means big trouble (read: instability) later.  I would 
suggest you post the output so the maintainer can see what was missing, and 
determine if it is a build error.
