Trying to install gfan and gmp is a dependency. installing gmp fails. I
also have macports installed and i tried and succeeded in installing gmp
with macports, but macports does not have gfan.
1: is there a way to fix gmp on fink?
2: is there a way to configure fink to use the gfan that macports installed?
I have already tried using the unstable tree but there is no version of
gmp there.

Note that this is preferable to emailing just the maintainer directly,
