I can't get debianutils to install (and consequently I get a failure anytime I try to do a fink selfupdate).
Below is the latest response. After a recent thread I had tried to force it to fetch the latest tar and retry, but it's still failing. > $ fink update debianutils > Information about 5049 packages read in 1 seconds. > > fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency. [Y/n] > Failed: Problem resolving dependencies. Check for circular dependencies. So I started installing the additional packages one-at-a-time. The first added the last. Everything went well until the third (sensible-utils). I got the following error: > install -m 0644 debian/mime > /sw/src/fink.build/root-sensible-utils-0.0.7-1/sw/lib/mime/packages/sensible-utils > > cd /sw/src/fink.build/root-sensible-utils-0.0.7-1 && find * -type f ! -regex > '^DEBIAN/.*' -print0 | xargs -r0 md5sum > > /sw/src/fink.build/sensible-utils-0.0.7-1/sensible-utils-0.0.7/DEBIAN/md5sums > xargs: illegal option -- r > usage: xargs [-0opt] [-E eofstr] [-I replstr [-R replacements]] [-J replstr] > [-L number] [-n number [-x]] [-P maxprocs] [-s size] > [utility [argument ...]] > ### execution of /tmp/fink.DN170 failed, exit code 1 > ### execution of /tmp/fink.uT0SY failed, exit code 1 > Removing runtime build-lock... > Removing build-lock package... > /sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait -r fink-buildlock-sensible-utils-0.0.7-1 > (Reading database ... 137635 files and directories currently installed.) > Removing fink-buildlock-sensible-utils-0.0.7-1 ... > Failed: phase installing: sensible-utils-0.0.7-1 failed > > Before reporting any errors, please run "fink selfupdate" and try again. > Also try using "fink configure" to set your maximum build jobs to 1 and > attempt to build the package again. > If you continue to have issues, please check to see if the FAQ on Fink's > website solves the problem. Fink build jobs: 2 So I followed it's advice and re-ran the selfupdate that had started this whole mess. I was surprised, but it worked. Just thought I'd share the tortured path to success. Sometimes I'm just stabbing in the dark, but even I can find success. -- Chip ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
