Alexander, I did exactly as you asked, but it does not work because the
dependent packages always include autoconf and autoconf2.6.

Then, I removed all versions of autoconf and automake and tried builds
and installs. You are right that automake1.11 requires autoconf2.6 while
libftgl2 requires autoconf and automake1.11.

Is there a reliable alternative? I picked "bundle-octave363-atlas" because
it looks easier than my guessing all the pieces. I run into the
same problem with "octave363-atlas" but not "octave363-atlas-dev"
(I stopped at the Y/n).
