Since you didn't mention what OS version you're using, I'll point out
that there's no bioperl for 10.8:

$ fink list bioperl
Scanning package description files..........
Information about 6345 packages read in 15 seconds.

There are missing dependencies, such as data-stag-pm, which in turn
needs tk-pm, which is not yet available for 10.8.
