1) The fact that you ultimately wanted Octave isn't really relevant, since your build error was with freetype2. 2) There isn't enough information from what you have posted for anybody to help. "Failed: phase compiling: freetype219-2.4.11-1 failed" will be the final message of literally every possible failure mode that occurs in the compile phase. Start by looking at your build output for freetype2, starting at the beginning, and check for where you first see an error message.
