Thanks, Alex, libbonoboui2 built properly, but there appears to be a problem 
with another gnome library, libgnomeui-2.24.2-104, per the following build 
error:

I have threatened for years to learn C programming, and would still probably 
try to do it if I thought it would help me in understanding these types of 
problems.  I, and the rest of the fink community, I'm sure, am certainly 
grateful for your expertise and help in pulling us out of these sometimes murky 
waters of program compilation.
