I've done a fairly thorough search for this issue, and can't find it.

I have 10.8.4 with XCode 10.6.3 installed, and the command line tools are
installed too. I'm trying to install fink from scratch. Running the
bootstrap script fails with:

---
Checking package... looks good (fink-0.34.8).
Checking system... i386-apple-darwin12.4.0
Under Mac OS X 10.8.4, Fink must be bootstrapped or updated with gcc
4.2, however, you currently have gcc (unknown version) selected.
This typically is due to alteration of symlinks which were
installed by Xcode. To correct this problem, you will need
to restore the compiler symlinks to the configuration that
Apple provides.
