Hi Alexander,
A new 'cernlib2006' package was committed which compiled with gcc4.8, however,
it didn't solve my problem of 'h2root' as I expected. Therefore, I'd really
like to install the previous versions of 'cernlib2006' and 'root5-cernlib',
which I used to have fully functional.
Here are the requested outputs;

apt-cache policy root5-cernlib
root5-cernlib:
  Installed: 5.34.09-11
  Candidate: 5.34.09-11
  Version Table:
 *** 5.34.09-11 0
        100 /sw/var/lib/dpkg/status

apt-cache policy cernlib2006
cernlib2006:
  Installed: 2006b-19
  Candidate: 2006b-19
  Version Table:
 *** 2006b-19 0
        100 /sw/var/lib/dpkg/status

I've installed everything after completely removing (sudo rm /sw) fink in order
to rectify this problem. I'm guessing it wasn't a smart move.
Thanks much for your help

Dear All,
Recently I installed the cern's ROOT and its shared libraries (root5-cernlib &
root5-cernlib-shlibs). It all seems to work fine. However, when I try to use
'h2root' to convert the *.hbook files to *.root it crashes. Attached is the

What I've noticed during installation is that root5-cernlib was compiled with
gcc 4.8 and cernlib2006 was compiled with gcc 4.7. I used to have a working
system of paw, root5, and h2root where everything was compiled with gcc 4.7.
Could you please help me resolve this problem. Also, is there a way to install
the previous version of root5 which compiled with gcc 4.7.
current version of root: root5-cernlib 5.34.09-11 (but I wan't to install the
previous version to this)
Appreciate all your help
Harsha

This seems to be a matter for the maintainer to deal with (cc'ed), since
it doesn't involve general packaging issues.

As to how to revert root5-cernlib, there are a couple of options. To
see which one you need to use, post back with the output of "apt-cache
policy root5-cernlib".
