Most of the applications that one can get via Fink utilize the command 
line, so the documentation does assume a certain level of familiarity 
with it.

I'm not sure which documents you've already looked at, but

http://fink.thetis.ig42.org/doc/bundled/install-fast.php

goes through the install process step by step.  Take a look at that, and 
if you have more specific questions as you go along the steps, we can 
help you out along the way.
