Edit the revision field in the xmahjongg.info file you downloaded to read Revision: 3.1 (this is a plain text file. TextEdit/TextWrangler/BBEdit should read it just fine). This will make it take preference over the current broken 'official' version (revision 3). When a new fixed version gets released, it will be revision 4 and will then take precedence.
