A recent upgrade to Mavericks has caused me to restart from the beginning installing packages I had previously installed using Fink. For a number of packages this is caused me to encounter the error message 'Can't resolve dependency "system-java-dev (>= 1.5-1)”…’ for what I believe is the first time, though others have reported it many times over the years. I appear to be the first to report it for Mavericks. My system is a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1. I usually run fink in XQuartz 2.7.5 (xorg-server 1.14.4). I am running Fink 0.36.3. An example attempt
bash-3.2$ fink install ipython-py27 Password: Information about 8218 packages read in 2 seconds. fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency. The candidates: (1) pyqt4-py27: Python bindings for the Qt toolkit (2) pyqt4-mac-py27: Python bindings for the Qt toolkit Pick one: [1] Can't resolve dependency "system-java-dev (>= 1.5-1)" for package "libidn-1.22-6" (no matching packages/versions found) My initial attempts to fix it involved installing java_for_os_x_2013005_dp__11m4609 and command_line_tools_os_x_mavericks_for_xcode__late_october_2013 I still got the error. However java_for_os_x_2013005_dp__11m4609 only claims to support Lion and Mountain Lion. Installing the package at http://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?locale=en also doesn’t fix the problem. Running fink-virtual-pigs debug yields bash-3.2$ fink-virtual-pkgs --debug 2>&1 | grep "checking Java" -A 11 - checking Java versions: - 1.6.0... 1.6.0_65-b14-462.jdk/Contents/Home/bin /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_65-b14-462.jdk/Contents/Home/1.6.0/Headers/jni.h missing - 1.6.0... 1.6.0_43-b01-447.jdk/Contents/Home/bin /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_43-b01-447.jdk/Contents/Home/1.6.0/Headers/jni.h missing - searching for java3d... found /System/Library/Java/Extensions/j3dcore.jar - searching for javaai... found /System/Library/Java/Extensions/jai_core.jar - checking for Xcode version... 5.0.2 - checking for Xcode CLI tools version... 5.0.1.0.1.1382131676 - determining path to system SDKs... /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/ - checking for MacOSX10.8.sdk... found - checking for MacOSX10.9.sdk... found - checking for cctools version... 846-1 - checking for cctools -single_module support... yes, 846 has it Thanks for any help. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business.
