Hi Alexander,
Thanks so much for the quick reply!
Upfront disclaimer - I'm a Unix newbie.
______
I think I tried all mirrors, definitely the original URL, but none worked.
But, in the meantime, I dug in a little deeper, and installed the
package as a binary, by itself. That worked.
Then I re-ran fink install gimp2, again as source, and this time, all
packages were downloaded, and I'm installing Gimp as we speak - over an
hour already. I guess, installing from binaries instead of source code
is a more efficient way to install?
_____________
I'll updated my question in the Forum when I'm gone with the installation.
________
Another question, if you don't mind - can I delete the ~/Downloads/fink
directory and files, that were put there as part of the fink
installation? I assume these are no longer needed, right?
Thanks again; I truly appreciate your help.
Martin
BTW - watching the gimp installation gives you a true appreciation of
modern software development - it' s mind boggling what goes into an app.

I installed fink, and as far as I can tell, everything works.
Then, I tried installing gimp2 and something else (just to double check.
In each case, libffi-3.2.1.tar.gz of package libffi6-3.2.1-1, fails
to download.
Fix? Thanks so much,
It’s hard to tell what’s going on based on the little information that
you provided. For example, we don’t know what mirrors you tried. I
_can_ say that this is a recent update, so if you were using our
mirrors rather than the original source the tarball might not yet have
been copied at the time of your attempt. Here’s what I’m seeing right
now:
curl --connect-timeout 30 -f -L -A 'fink/0.38.3' -O
http://distfiles.master.finkmirrors.net/distfiles/libffi-3.2.1.tar.gz
