The Java 6 test request would only be if you already have it installed.
If you had to fight to uninstall it, I definitely don't want you to
need to reinstall it just to test some things. I know Java is very
painful to deal with (at work I need to have specific 6, 7, & 8
subversions installed for different vendor provided programs)

Unfortunately, virtuoso can only work with java 5-7. There doesn't seem
to even be any work upstream to make it work with Java 8. There's a
newer upstream of virtuoso, but that also only works with Java 5-7.

I can upgrade to this newer Virtuoso version and remove the Java
dependency/features completely but I don't actually use Virtuoso, I only
deal with it as a dependency of another program. Chris, in your use, do
you actually use the Java parts of virtuoso? Do you know if they're
important?

Hanspeter
