--- NEW FILE: test-builder-tester-pm-10.4.info ---
Package: test-builder-tester-pm
Version: 1.02
Revision: 1
Type: bundle
Distribution: 10.4
Description: Check testsuites built with Test::Builder
License: Artistic
Homepage: http://search.cpan.org/dist/Test-Simple/
Maintainer: Daniel Macks <dma...@netspace.org>
Depends: perl586-core, test-simple-pm586 (>= 0.62-1)
DescUsage: <<
Test::Builder::Tester was absorbed into test-simple. This package is
provided for compatibility/upgrading to continue to provide that
module via the test-simple-pmXXX for the system-perl version on OS X
10.4.
<<
DescPackaging: <<
        Former maintainer: Blair Zajac <bl...@orcaware.com>

We do not use the technical "obsolete" designation because
that would make all dependants want to upgrade their
dependencies to test-simple-pmXXX, which is perl-version
varianted whereas the old test-builder-tester-pm was not. No
need to make them suddenly become perl-version varianted or
have to make Distribution-specific module for each different
        system-perl version.

-DescDetail: <<
-A module that helps you test testing modules that are built with
-Test::Builder.
-
-The testing system is designed to be used by performing a three step
-process for each test you wish to test. This process starts with
-using "test_out" and "test_err" in advance to declare what the
-testsuite you are testing will output with Test::Builder to stdout and
-stderr.
+Homepage: http://search.cpan.org/dist/Test-Simple/
+Maintainer: Daniel Macks <dma...@netspace.org>

-You then can run the test(s) from your test suite that call
-Test::Builder. At this point the output of Test::Builder is safely
-captured by Test::Builder::Tester rather than being interpreted as
-real test output.
+DescUsage: <<
+Test::Builder::Tester was absorbed into test-simple. This package is
+provided for compatibility/upgrading to continue to provide that
+module, which is included in perl core as of 5.8.8 and is therefore
+automatically available for the system-perl version OS X >= 10.5.
+<<
+DescPackaging: <<
+ Former maintainer: Blair Zajac <bl...@orcaware.com>

-The final stage is to call "test_test" that will simply compare what
-you predeclared to what Test::Builder actually outputted, and report
-the results back with a "ok" or "not ok" (with debugging) to the
-normal output.
+ We do not use the technical "obsolete" designation because
+ that would make all dependants want to upgrade their
+ dependencies to test-simple-pmXXX, which is perl-version
+ varianted whereas the old test-builder-tester-pm was not. No
+ need to make them suddenly become perl-version varianted or
+ have to make Distribution-specific module for each different
+ system-perl version. Once we drop support for OS X 10.4, we
+ can become a proper obsolete package because "all supported
+ distros" will automatically have Test::Builder::Tester support
+ in system-perl.
