Hi all, I've just called xs4all. I've forgotten to do that for a while now -- every time I remembered it we already passed business hours. Blame is on me, sorry for that... I was reminded about it by Daniel, and just called them ten minutes before their closing time. Luckily they weren't too annoyed.
Phinch is now up again: they simply connected a monitor and keyboard, didn't reset the machine or anything, and it spontaneously continued to boot. So apparantly, it was just waiting for some input or so. Regarding long-term solutions for phinch: I've asked them for login credentials to the new power manager using which we would be able to remotely reboot the machine, and access its tty1 to see if anything's up there. They said they could only give me that information if we had a "relatienummer", account number. That number would connect the server to the contact person who is eligible for receiving the login information. I asked him whether he could look up the account number by person's name, and gave him the following names: * Alexander Hansen * Daniel Macks * Martin Costabel * Andreas Gockel None of them were found in the database. If anyone knows who was Fink's contact person for the server earlier, I can call again and ask what the correct number is, so we can write that down somewhere and use it in further enquiries. Otherwise, if we can no longer supply such a name or such a number, he said we would have to contact the sponsoring department again and ask for a new number, but that was a less preferred solution for them. (And also for us, since I guess re-contacting the sponsoring department comes with a small chance that they'll go "wait, why were we sponsoring you in the first place?") Sjors
