I don't think it's explicitly discussed, but from reading around in the source code and makefiles, it looks like the main reason is inter-Evolution file reading compatibility. I seem to remember reading a comment along these lines. Each release of db3 is potentially unable to read/write files written with other releases, which means that Evolutions built with different versions of the lib are likely to be incompatible. Being able to read my files seems like a laudable goal and worth pursuing :). So my guess is that it would be good to use 3.1.17. Max, Peter, Patrick: is your work-in-progress on Evolution available anywhere? I'd like to take a crack at it. I would like to be using the scheduler portion in partuclar -- the buggy Palm Desktop beta is driving me nuts, and I don't feel like shelling out USD 500 for MS Office X just to use Entourage.
