OK, I'm starting to understand the cause of the CVS trouble. The upstream source contains a bunch of files under CVS control, which include the CVS control tags.
My diff file captures some of the CVS control tags, things like $Log: and $Id: I believe that this is confusing CVS when it tries to upload the file. Anybody have a suggested workaround? I guess I could make foo.patch.gz instead of foo.patch, or try a different format for diff output.
