A splitoff always has type = splitoff assigned automatically. This could in theory cause a small issue with packages that want to use type=perl, but so far this didn't occur, and I won't do anyhting about it until a package maintainer has a concret problem with it - I see no value in fixing imaginary problems that might not even exist.
