I have been seeing some disturbing articles lately, and based on previous relations with OpenOSX.com, they may be getting publicity that's rightfully ours. Today I recieved a MacWorld magazine. The macbeat article talked about OpenOSX Office, a CD from OpenOSX with Abiword, gnumeric, The Gimp, and Guppi on it, all of which are Fink packages. From what I've seen, they use a very fink looking installation in /usr/local/
Additionally, they fail to provide the source code for any of the packages they distribute, and some, including the ones listed above, they fail to provide any mention at all. Also without even a web link are dlcompat, ghostscript, bonobo, and more. They are breaking the GPL and the LGPL in more ways in more packages than I can count. Other licenses are potentially also broken. They only provide the GPL on their web site, but they have packages for other licenses distributed too. I need to go somewhere and blow off steam, Kyle D.
