Thanks for volunteering, Chris, and I do remember that you have done so before.

There are really two parts to this: getting decent docs written, and
incorporating them into the website. If you and some other volunteers
work on the first part, getting them incorporated into the website won't
be too hard. The thing which I haven't had time for, or other core
developers, is sitting down to write stuff. For example, one of the things
which chrisp was working on last fall was a User's Guide, and you can see
the beginnings of that on the site. That would be a great place for some
volunteers to start.

OK, so... to avoid making more work later, you might want to write the docs
in the brand of XML which is actually used at the site. It's just a small
variant of HTML, not too well documented itself, but by copying the format
of the existing files you will do fine.

The website stuff is kept on CVS, in a module called "web." If you go to
your /sw/fink directory and say "cvs co web" you should get a local copy
in /sw/fink/web. In the xml subdirectory of that directory is a README
which contains all the documentation we have for the setup. But its a
pretty cool setup, I think.

Anyway, if you and the documentation committee make a rough draft and put it
up on some other site for comment or whatever, I'm sure you'll get some
feedback and then we can incorporate the final draft into the fink site.

  Have fun,
  Dave
