Bugs fixed in 2.5.5 (2.5.2 actually has some fairly nasty issues that were
fixed in later versions):

     * Work around bug in Mac OS X mkdir(2), which cannot handle
       trailing slashes.

(There were actually a number of critical bugs fixed in 2.5.3/4/5)

I have been using the latest builds of rsync regularly to syncronize
CodeFab's cvs repository to an off site backup and, as such, have been
stress testing it fairly regularly across a large tree of files that range
wildly in size and content. Even the broken versions haven't caused
problems in my environment save for having to ensure that I get the
command line arguments *exactly* right-- but that has always been the case
with rsync.
