Thomas, To understand the complete story in the example Ben gave, you also need to look at tcltk-8.3.3-7.info, which is the other package that wants to install man3/Object.3 .
To implement this update-alternatives strategy, the maintainers of all of the packages which contain the conflicting files have to cooperate, and all use the update-alternatives. Since gc is my package, I would have been happy to do this for the gc vs. graphviz conflict. However, when I look at my gc package more closely, I believe I installed the man page in the wrong place. I have now changed this in a new version of the gc package, which should no longer conflict with graphviz. So the fix for graphviz is to add: Conflicts: gc (<= 6.0-3) Replaces: gc (<= 6.0-3) Would you like me to add those lines to graphviz for you? (It will mean a new version of graphviz.) -- Dave _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ Fink-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-devel
