Fink CVS now has some new fields: Source-MD5, Source1-MD5, etc. I
already converted a few packages in base/ and util/ to use these.

I would like to ask all developers to start using these fields. Just
use the md5sum util (part of dpkg) to get the checksum of your source
files and add this information to the .info file.

For now there is a temporary fink command, "fink checksum", that will
loop over all .info files, and if they have an Source-MD5 field,
*and* you have the source file, it will check those. If a mismatch is
found, a warning is generated.

The idea is: everybody now adds these fields. Also everybody runs
"fink checksums". This way we can a) check that the checksums we put
into the files are correct, and b) if a given source file exists in
various versions.

Cheers,

Max

P.S.: in case you wonder about the sender address: this is a
secondary email account of mine, SourceForge is now blocking all
emails sent via my normal email account (or rather all emails sent
via that ISP). I can't really argue with that, though, it seems that
this company (1&1 WebHosting, probably the biggest domain hoster in
Germany) is using open relay mail servers, and hence more and more
places block all mails sent via them. Unlucky for me, but
understandable. For now I will use this mail account instead.
