Hi all. There is now a list on the fink website of packages without maintainers: http://fink.sourceforge.net/pdb/nomaintainer.php
(These are identified by the maintainer name being "None".) If you are willing to adopt any of these packages as your own, all you need to do is to change the maintainer field to your own name. (Or, if you are not a core Fink developer, send us an email volunteering to maintain the package.)
