Just use google for searching. "subs-2.sed: unescaped newline inside substitute pattern" gives you quite a number of hits, among them several reports from Pedro Massobrio in August and September about the same package as you. Unfortunately, as far as i can see, there was no definite explanation.I'm using Mac OS 10.2.1 and the unstable 10.2 Fink distro. So far, pretty much everything I tried to install worked. I tried to compile and install bundle-gnome and libgtop failed to build with the following error:config.status: creating macros/Makefile sed: 42: /tmp/cs4054-8697/subs-2.sed: unescaped newline inside substitute pattern config.status: creating config.h make make: *** No targets. Stop. ### execution of make failed, exit code 2 Failed: compiling libgtop-1.0.13-10 failed This may have been reported earlier (in which case, you have my apologies)... Search features on the mailing list archive are not excellent...
The only explanation I have seen in other contexts was a problem with zsh. You should verify with "ll /bin/*sh" that /bin/sh is identical to /bin/bash and not to /bin/zsh as it used to be on 10.1.
