The problem was caused by old Fink releases (0.4.0, 0.3.2 etc.) still being in the DB. Normally this would not be a problem, as the PDB scripts filter for the release, but in this case the total number was simply listing all packages.

I guess we might want to change that (and also list.php) to only list packages that are in the last release, current-stable or current-unstable.

For now, I simply removed these old releases from the MySQL db and we are down to 1100 package - not sure where those 8 additional packages come from, if anybody files like hand picking to figure out which pacakges those are, I'll be happy to correct 'em.
