I have tested Martin's installer, and used it to replace the old one on the sourceforge site. We should no longer encounter Fink users with unbootable machines! (or at least, not ones caused in this way!) Martin, were you "root" when you created this? Or else how did you get everything to be owned by root in the .pax.gz file?
