What exactly is the problem? - Can't pan start or does it only fallback to the C library for ??? - i made a package of 0.13.2 based on the one from Max Horn and it worked for me.

The new version of gtk+2 sets GDK_USE_XFT for in the runtimevars, so you don't need to set it.
Well, it doesn't help anyway...
