This is indeed a serious problem, and needs to be addressed before the 0.5.0
release.

I've just created rev 2 of the xfree86 packages, in the unstable tree,
which move the "Provides: libgl" line to xfree86-rootless, and add a
"Provides: libgl-shlibs" line to  xfree86-rootless-shlibs.  

The idea is that eventually the other packages which depend on libgl will
put libgl in BuildDepends and libgl-shlibs in Depends.

RangerRick and I are testing this now.  Other testing reports will be 
gratefully received.
