I prefer to have this paragraph present. The documentation is not only meant for those who are young and geeky, some people do prefer to read a bit more, I am one of those, since I am well past 30 myself. The paragraph might sound superfluous, but to me it creates a certain are that I like about documentation.

Well, my xml parser I wrote with jade saysDoesn't compile.

Are you using the latest version? Maybe I missed something, as I am not an XML guru there might be some issues with it. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't see why it should be a separate document. I'm merging it into the user guide now.I do. When I wish to find information about the configuration file, I do not wish to look through a whole book of other documentation. While I agree that it should be part of the user guide, I will always offer it as separate document as well. If not only for the reason, that it is easier to sync the xml to MAN format then.
