Hm, they did? I thought we only left them out in the fink/ CVS module for this reason? But I am not sure anymore, it's been a long time. In any case, if this is so we should fix it inside fink. Multiple ways to do that:

Maybe so, it was a while back indeed.

* disable MD5 check during bootstrap
* use /sbin/md5 to verify checksums
* first try md5sum, then md5, then if both are missing, simply don't check MD5 (maybe output a warning, too?)

I think using the /sbin/md5 is the best solution.. Jaguar is our minimum supported OS now anyway.
