I spoke to our legal department guys and they explained the issues as follows.

If chrisp stopped developing the fink software before 2002 the copyright notice should read:

2001, 2002-2003

If he did not, the copyright notice should, as Finlay pointed out allready, read
2001-2003

So, which is the case?

BTW I would add a leagl.php where furthe rpolicies are explained similar tot he ones I posted in my mail to the mailing list. you can read the legal statement in the lower half of this message, of course it would have to be adjusted:
