Thanks for the suggestion. However, using any of the --force flags from dpkg should really be a last resort, not something that people do very often. The problem is, when you do this you can leave your Fink installation in an inconsistent state, and it may later be impossible to fix it again.
So I'm not actually in favor of adding this to the docs.
