Yes, that would be good. A tracker item can be changed from "request" to "patch" also, but I suspect that only the fink developers can make that change. But anyway, that's how we will handle it once some code has been contributed.
Something should also be done about the scripts in /sw/etc/profile.d that add path components.
For ages, I have had a private hack in my tcsh startup script that removes /sw/bin:/sw/sbin and /usr/X11R6 from path before sourcing init.csh, but in nested shells, I then sometimes got one copy of /sw/bin:/sw/sbin OK, but four copies of /sw/share/Geomview/bin.
