hmac.3, mdc2.3, pem.3, rc4.3, ssl.3 and md5.3.openssl097 are real files here, coming from openssl097-dev_0.9.7-2 _ no links, thus in particular breaking your cycle.
Look in your deb if they are there _ else something may have gone wrong in your build.
